Equine thefts - not cheshire

Hi All

Please see the below information from kent Police. I know its far and beyond Cheshire, however, as we know Criminals travel and its still effective to make you aware.

Please encourage any friends ect to join the new horse watch system, many havn't swapped over from the old email sytsem and wont see our messages.

A number of thefts and burglaries involving equestrian property have prompted officers from Kent Police’s Rural Task Force to remind horse owners to be vigilant.
A stables was targeted by thieves between 6pm on Friday, 1 May 2020 and 8am on Saturday, 2 May 2020. Two carriages were taken along with an aluminium trailer. A horse shower, tools and tack were also reported stolen in the incident.
Thousands of pounds worth of equestrian items were stolen from a property in Faversham. The incident is reported to have happened between 7am on Sunday, 3 May and 7am on Monday, 4 May 2020. Rugs, saddles and other horse tack were stolen.
More equestrian items were stolen from a yard in Boughton Monchelsea between 9pm on Friday, 1 May 2020 and 8am on Saturday, 2 May 2020. Equine painkillers, a head collar and bridle were taken in the incident.
Around £15,000 worth of items were taken in another burglary at a stables in Paddock Wood. The burglary happened between 7.45pm on Saturday 2 May and 7.22am on Sunday 3 May 2020.
Inspector Dave Smith The National Equine Crime lead said: ‘We are working with our colleagues around the country to investigate these incidents and see if any of them may be linked. If anyone if offered cheap second hand equestrian items, please be mindful that they may be stolen and contact the police if you have concerns.
‘These incidents will concern horse owners in nationally. I would urge them to be vigilant and review their security to ensure they are taking all of the measures available to them. If possible invest in CCTV and security lighting, join a local Horse watch scheme and maintain contact with the rural policing team for the area.'
